A Border Collie and a Pembroke Corgi train in the big lower field most days. The dogs make the sheep; the sheep make the dogs.
Read more →Starter groups of three to six ewes that flock, move off a dog, and stop when the dog stops. They are worked here several days a week before they are ever offered, by two dogs of very different styles, so they have seen a wide-running outrun and a short, pushy drive.
Groups are sold together. Price on inquiry, and you are welcome to bring your own dog to try them first.

The Maryland Line held at Long Island so the rest of the army could get away. That is where the state got its nickname, and where the farm got its name.
It is also, in a small way, the whole job of a stockdog: get between the stock and where it wants to go, and stay there. The farm sits outside Sharpsburg on Marsh Run, a short walk from the C&O Canal, on ground that has been grazed for a long time.
